A Prescription for Change
In December the NAMI Texas Board and leaders from key NAMI Texas Affiliates gathered in Austin for a Strategic Planning Retreat. As a result of this meeting, NAMI Texas and our affiliates are modifying our services to meet the demand for support, education and advocacy through our grassroots network and to integrate ourselves with changes to the Texas Mental Health System.
To meet this challenge, NAMI Texas and its Affiliates must become unified, vertically aligned, and better organized in order to better serve the individuals and families.
As a first step, the new NAMITexas.org will enhance and support our mission by:
- Offering around-the-clock education, support, advocacy and other services to all Texans whose lives have been touched by mental illness.
- Providing streamlined business processes, technical assistance and best practices to help our Affiliates better serve their local communities.
- Increasing opportunities to become involved with NAMI Texas through online membership, donations, discussion groups and more.
We've sought to create an inviting user experience that encourages participation, offers support and helps us be a more effective and cohesive organization. With your support and feedback, the new NAMITexas.org will be a prescription for change, ensuring The Voice of Mental Illness is heard throughout Texas and across the nation.
